I don't use Firefox (Chrome here) but I'm definitely going to switch. It just seems much more speedy now which is good - probably because Chrome is all full of gunk thanks to all that browsing.
Plus what I also did was set Firefox to move the cache into RAM so that its much faster to load. Here's how: http://lifehacker.com/#!5687850/speed-up-firefox-by-moving-your-cache-to-ram-no-ram-disk-required
The rest of the year should be exciting for firefox. It plans to release version 7 by the end of this year. Hope it goes well and its not just fudging the numbers to make themselves look good, but rather actually deliver new features on time. For instance did you know that Firefox had the idea for tabs on top - Chrome got it out first but now finally Firefox has it.
Im using chrome at the moment, but firefox 4 is tempting.
ReplyDeleteim thinking about switching back aswell.
ReplyDeleteI am gonna try Firefox 4.0 for a week instead of my usual Chrome and see how I like it.
ReplyDeleteDude, I'm always ambivalent between chrome and firefox... and now with the new opera version I'm even MORE confused :S
ReplyDeletei might just check it out. currently on chrome, no complaints.
ReplyDeleteFirefox 4 looks like Chrome alot, but i dont care, its really nice and clear. Finally browsers is getting to understand what people want in their browsers :)
ReplyDeletei dont have it yet but ill get it now!
ReplyDeleteI heard the new Firefox sucks, but I'm still going to check it out no matter what. Actually I'm going to update right now :D
ReplyDeleteThe fox is number one.
ReplyDeleteI used to be an opera only person... then I found myself using IE7 for anything other than browsing... opera was slow, and would have problems... chrome is perfect, its fast, only issue is with it sometimes not loading fully... not sure if I'll ever move to FF tho
ReplyDeleteYea I've gotten the new Firefox 4 and I'm lovin it :D
ReplyDeleteYeah, I like the speed of it. Some of the buttons are taking some getting used to for me. It seems more like Chrome then Firefox to me. That and it seems like they ruined the bookmarks toolbar. In the old Firefox it was infinitely helpful, here it just looks goofy, so I turned it off.
ReplyDeleteGood tip, man. Tried it out, and am thoroughly enjoying the speed boost
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to try it out, I'm also a chrome user as of late.
ReplyDeleteFireFox Rocks...
ReplyDeleteI've been a longtime firefox user. Equipped with greasemonkey and add-ons is what keeps me.
ReplyDeletei'm still a faithful chrome user, but when I gave FF4 a go, it left me really satisfied!
ReplyDeleteI just got it today and I like it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lot cleaner.
I will probably switch once it goes live, but right now I do still prefer firefox 3
ReplyDeleteVery nice! thanks for the info, I'll go and try the beta.
ReplyDeleteI thought #4 was still in beta?
ReplyDeleteGuess not.
Thanks for that link!!
ReplyDeleteI follow and support those who do likewise.

ReplyDeleteFirefox is the best thing known to man
ReplyDeleteI use Chrome myself as well, but have Firefox 4.0 as a backup. Not sure why, but I like to keep it around. Chrome is just faster and I like the UI more.
ReplyDeleteits a lot cleaner than the last version
ReplyDeleteSwitching back to chrome
ReplyDeleteIt's not that good after all
And besides, Chrome is really starting to catch up on extensions etc
Just switched back from Chrome to Firefox today actually. 4 is great
ReplyDeleteIt had better come quecliy now - buggy navigators all over the place, if they could just create one, fast relatively problem free one - the world would rejoice :)
ReplyDelete4 is preety magical
ReplyDeletefirefox is starting to slip according to many sources
ReplyDeleteWow nice, thanks for keeping us all updated!
ReplyDeletei prefer chrome
ReplyDeleteFireFox 4 is great, but I still prefer Chrome. I think they need to make the design cleaner on FireFox.
ReplyDeleteJust got the 4.0 too. Working nicely
ReplyDeleteLoyal fan of firefox. it's SO fast. Check out my new blog, puzzledyet.blogspot.com, if you haven't yet!

I moved to Chrome since Firefox 3.2 maybe. Got really tired of the incredible slowness and response, and I found every plugin I wanted on Chrome.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that FF4 is a big improvement, though.
I use a lot of add ons and themes and stuff, so I'll just wait a tad longer to switch to FF4, I am using 3 right now , and still no complaints :)
ReplyDeleteI love the new firefox on windows 7! it's faster, cleaner looking and takes up much less screen space.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there are a few problems with the memory cache tweaks, detailed in a link at the bottom of the article. aside from certain plugins running slower, this one caught my eye:
The disk cache, unlike the memory cache, persists across restarts. This means that you trade off slower startup (due to none of your restored tabs being in cache) and slower initial visits to all sites for slightly faster repeat visits to sites, as long as you didn't visit too much stuff in between.
i'm gonna take the easy route and leave FF as is.
I'm not so sure about their new development plans, but we'll see. Seems like they'd need millions of people to beta test, which they don't have atm.
ReplyDeletefirefox is so much better than chrome now
ReplyDeletefirfox is useless
ReplyDeleteI've just upgraded yesterday to 4.. miss the status bar but looks ok so far
ReplyDeleteCurrently using 3 but switching to 4, sometimes FF just used too much memory and it annoys me, hopefully 4 works much better..
ReplyDeleteUnrelated Randomness
dloading now, i hope it lives up to the hype
ReplyDeleteI like chrome and firefox, and use both. they're pretty good.
ReplyDeleteoh i havent downloaded 4 yet! Should i?? it looks good to me :D
ReplyDeleteI installed it 2 days ago and its ok.. just missing the status bar
ReplyDeleteI hate like everybody try to copy simple chrome design.. I hate it! miss my lovely status bar ;;
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to finally be able to switch back to Firefox! I've been using Chrome simply because it's more lightweight.
ReplyDeletei absolutely love 4.
ReplyDeleteits the bomb <3
Awesome blog man! Keep up the good work! It will pay off!
ReplyDeleteall these internet browers are just starting to copy each other
ReplyDeleteyes ff is definitely gonna rock the internet world
ReplyDeleteHow to Hack Life.
I don't really care about my browser version. does it make a big difference?
ReplyDeleteFF4 seems buggy. I had it crash on me this morning :(
ReplyDeleteI love firefox! and I got the new FF4 when it came out, and never looked back.
ReplyDeleteHaha, I'm still on firefox 3, guess I should be downloading firefox 4, a couple of my friends already asked me if I've tried the new firefox, so yea... download time for me :P
ReplyDeleteCheers.
